The main responsibilities of this job are:
- Assist with the start-up and shut down of the plant
- Monitor log quality according to BOP
- Reject any substandard logs (bark, knobs or banana shaped logs)

- Report any sudden increase in the amount of rejected logs to the Shift Superintendent
- Ensure housekeeping in area of responsibility
- Assist with planned and unplanned saw changes
- Assist with cleaning of bark / log blockages
- Isolate plant as required (Authorized Operator)
- Identify abnormal / emergency plant conditions and take corrective action according to standard (BOP)
- Perform house keeping with the team – focus on area of responsibility
- Communicate with Shift Superintendent with regards abnormal conditions and breakdowns
- Communicate with Maintenance employees with regards maintenance work
- Report unsafe conditions
- Understand and comply to the SHEQ requirements of the position
