Freight Checker Grade II (Loading Shift) – Cape Town

Shift:

• Mon – 14:00 – 00:00
• Tues – 14:00 – 21:00
• Wed – 14:00 – 00:00
• Thurs – 14:00 – 20:00
• Fri – 14:00 – 00:00
• Sat – 08:00 – 12:00 (Every 2nd Saturday)

Function: Ensure the correct and accurate checking, receiving and distribution of all freight in and out the warehouse.

Minimum Requirements:

• 3-5 years’ experience as a freight checker
• 2 years supervisory experience , advantageous
• Matric/ Grade 12 or equivalent NQF qualification
• Sound knowledge of loading and off-loading principles
• Understanding safe workplace practices and requirements
• Complete understanding of the optimum usage of productivity principles
• Reliable, trustworthy and punctual
• Freightware proficient (training will be provided for internal candidates)
• Attention to detail and accuracy

PRIMARY TASKS (Routine) :

• Make sure that the workstation is clean and ready for the day’s shift
• Ensure that the trucks you loading are swept and clean prior to loading and report any problems (torn sail, weather strip etc.) to the supervisor
• Go through the receiving Branch activity reports together with your supervisor, to check damages and shortages
• Check all cargo received from the local collection trucks
• Assist customers in checking the cargo dropped off at the depot
• Ensure that all waybills are scanned off the collection sheet provided by the zone controller
• Ensure that all details are checked on the waybills before giving the waybills to the data capturers
• Ensure that all damages and shortages are reported to the supervisor immediately
• Ensure that all cargo checked in is placed in the correct cargo bays
• Ensure that all freight is scanned correctly on the linehaul trucks
• When the linehaul trucks is finished, take photos of the load on the trucks and make sure the cargo is strapped
• Check with the data capturers that all cargo was scanned onto the linehaul trucks
