Job Purpose
The Department of The Premier, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a qualified and competent individual to develop well-written and accurate content for a variety of media including online and print, research, conduct interviews, and source information to generate articles and written communication for the Western Cape Government. This post is stationed in Cape Town.
Minimum Requirements
An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree or higher) in journalism/media communication or related field
A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in copywriting or journalism
A valid code B (or higher) driving licence.

Recommendation

Key Performance Areas
Render a creative copy-writing service to the Western Cape Government; Research, conduct interviews, and source information in order to generate articles and written communication for the Western Cape Government
Provide an oversight role to creative writing work produced outside of Corporate Communication
Provide a creative editing service to the Western Cape Government; Work together with the design and photographic units to create high-quality content.
Competencies
Knowledge of writing for various media; Communication (written and verbal) skills; Editing and proofreading skills; Excellent interview and research skills.
Remuneration
R 382 245 per annum (Salary level 9) Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed.
Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
